1.   Toyota Prius, Lexus CT 200h Earn 'Top Safety Pick' Awards

The Toyota Prius and Lexus CT 200h are not only among the most fuel-efficient cars on the market, they have also scored among the highest safety rated vehicles as stated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.   And now it's official, IIHS said that the model year 2011 Prius and CT 200h are Top Safety Pick award winners. The awards are based on performance in front, side, rollover and rear-impact evaluations.  Cars that earn the top rating of "good" in each test and have available electronic stability control qualify for the Top Safety Pick award.

1.   Toyota and salesforce.com Form Strategic Alliance to Build Social Network for Customers and Their Cars

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and salesforce.com announced today in Japan that they have formed a strategic alliance to build "Toyota Friend", a private social network for Toyota customers and their cars. Toyota Friend will be powered by Salesforce Chatter, a private social network used by businesses, and will be offered initially with Toyota's electric vehicles (EV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHV) due in 2012.  It will be offered first in Japan.
